In 2004, Lei set out to prove that any ordinary person could achieve the seemingly impossible by beginning her journey to climb Everest. “I just wanted to make my best effort. I wanted to see how high an ordinary person could go on this mountain, for me and for all the people who supported me.”
She had no previous athletic training, but what she did have was discipline, perseverance, and a strong passion for climbing- the right combination she needed to drive her journey. She was determined to not just fulfill a personal dream but to show the world just how far you can go when you’re prepared to follow a plan with persistence and determination.
“I had been wondering what the meaning of life was for a long time,” she says. “Some people focus on money, or work, or family, but I asked myself, at the end of my life, am I going to really be that proud that I made a lot of money? Or that I was the best employee? Or did I need something else? For me, [this challenge] was something I wanted to do, and so I did it.”
Today, Lei shares her experiences through motivational speaking, guiding others to believe in themselves and their own “impossible dreams.” By using her own story, a business woman turned historic mountain climber, Lei inspires you to take a leap of faith and discover your own meaningful path.
